IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT ALL TIMES Waterford is located in Southeastern Wisconsins Racine County, part of what is called the Southern Lakes Region. This beautiful part of the Dairy State has gentle, rolling hills, lush woodlands and numerous quiet lakes. Its prime location near major commercial and tourist markets in southeastern Wisconsin, especially Milwaukee, Racine, and Lake Geneva, makes Waterford especially attractive to new businesses and residents. Waterford is only 30 minutes from Milwaukee along recently upgraded highway 36, 30 minutes from Racine and about 20 minutes from the popular vacation resorts in Lake Geneva. Interstate Highway 94 lies sixteen miles to the east, while Interstate Highway 43 is only 10 minutes west of Waterford. Other excellent roads including State Trunk Highways 20, 36 and 83 allow for the smooth flow of traffic to and from the city. County Trunk Highway W is a scenic and versatile alternative route. Trucks from more than 70 trucking and warehouse companies located in Racine County make frequent stops in the Waterford area. The Wisconsin Central, Ltd. railroad handles heavy freight in the region. The Port of Milwaukee, 29 miles to the northeast, fulfills overseas shipping requirements. The Racine County Human Services Department administrates a fine public transit service for the elderly and disabled. Two nearby airports accommodate local air travelers: Fox River Airport, two miles outside of town, and Burlington Municipal Airport, eight miles to the southwest. For those who require national and international flights, Milwaukees General Mitchell International Airport is 29 miles northeast while Chicagos OHare International Airport is but 90 minutes away.
